Tampakan is a philippine municipality in the province South Cotabato in Region XII SOCCSKSARGEN which be­longs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Tampakan is seated about 24 km east of province capital City Of Koronadal and about 1,005 km south-south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.

Tampakan is a 2nd class municipality. Regarding urbanization Tampakan is classified as partly urban. Tampakan occupies an area of 390.00 km². By the end of 2007 Tampakan was the home of 34,245 residents. Thus by average 87.81 people are living on one km².

Administratively the Municipality of Tampakan is subdivided into 14 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 13 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are Albagan, Palo, Pula-bato, San Isidro, Liberty, Santa Cruz, Buto, Lambayong, Tablu, Lampitak, Danlag, Maltana, Kipalbig, Poblacion.

Among the bigger cities and muni­ci­pa­li­ties in the neigh­bor­hood of Tampakan there are Davao City (Davao Del Sur) 88 km north-east, Polomolok 29 km south, General Santos City (Dadiangas) 43 km south-south-east, Midsayap (Cotabato (North Cotabato)) 69 km north, City Of Digos (Davao Del Sur) 43 km north-east, City Of Koronadal 23 km west, Sultan Kudarat (Nuling) (Maguindanao) 52 km west, Glan (Sarangani) 75 km south, Pikit (Cotabato (North Cotabato)) 69 km north as well as 53 km east-south-east of Tampakan the municipality Malita (Davao Del Sur).
