Santa Rita

Santa Rita is a philippine municipality in the province Samar (Western Samar) in Region VIII Eastern Visayas which be­longs to the Visayas group of islands. The municipality Santa Rita is seated about 38 km south of province capital City Of Catbalogan and about 551 km south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.

Regarding urbanization Santa Rita is classified as partly urban. Santa Rita occupies an area of 411.77 km². By the end of 2007 Santa Rita was the home of 34,959 residents. Thus by average 84.90 people are living on one km².

Administratively the Municipality of Santa Rita is subdivided into 38 barangays. 5 compose the center of the city wheras the other 33 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are San Roque, La Paz, Alegria, Cansadong, San Eduardo, New Manunca, Bougainvilla Pob. (Zone II), Bagolibas, Cabunga-an, Guinbalot-an, Salvacion, Cabacungan, Union, Igang-igang, San Pedro.

Among the bigger cities and muni­ci­pa­li­ties in the neigh­bor­hood of Santa Rita there are City Of Baybay (Leyte) 86 km south, City Of Borongan (Eastern Samar) 56 km east-north-east, Calbayog City 78 km north-west, Ormoc City (Leyte) 61 km south-west, City Of Catbalogan 37 km north, Tacloban City (Leyte) 23 km south-south-east, Basey 22 km south-east, Burauen (Leyte) 52 km south, Palompon (Leyte) 75 km south-west as well as 80 km south of Santa Rita the municipality Abuyog (Leyte).
