Pangutaran is a philippine municipality in the province Sulu in Region Autonomous Region in Muslim which belongs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Pangutaran is seated about 54 km west-north-west of province capital Jolo and about 924 km south of Philippine main capital Manila.
Pangutaran is a 4th class municipality. Regarding urbanization Pangutaran is classified as partly urban. Pangutaran occupies an area of 258.10 km². By the end of 2007 Pangutaran was the home of 29,571 residents. Thus by average 114.57 people are living on one km².
