Makilala is a philippine municipality in the province Cotabato (North Cotabato) in Region XII SOCCSKSARGEN which be­longs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Makilala is seated about 0 km north of province capital City Of Kidapawan and about 942 km south-south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.

Makilala is a 1st class municipality. Regarding urbanization Makilala is classified as partly urban. Makilala occupies an area of 343.57 km². By the end of 2007 Makilala was the home of 71,543 residents. Thus by average 208.23 people are living on one km².

Administratively the Municipality of Makilala is subdivided into 38 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 37 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are Leboce, Villaflores, Guangan, Biangan, Katipunan II, Dagupan, New Cebu, Malungon, Bato, Kawayanon, Cabilao, Luna Sur, Rodero, Concepcion, Buhay.
