MaimbungMaimbung is a philippine municipality in the province Sulu in Region Autonomous Region in Muslim which belongs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Maimbung is seated about 14 km south-south-east of province capital Jolo and about 963 km south of Philippine main capital Manila. Maimbung is a 5th class municipality. Regarding urbanization Maimbung is classified as partly urban. Maimbung occupies an area of 77.50 km². By the end of 2007 Maimbung was the home of 38,092 residents. Thus by average 491.51 people are living on one km². Administratively the Municipality of Maimbung is subdivided into 27 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 26 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are Lower Tambaking, Duhol Kabbon, Labah, Upper Tambaking, Bulabog, Anak Jati, Lunggang, Tabu-Bato, Bualo Lahi, Lagasan Asibih, Lapa, Ipil, Kapok-Punggol, Gulangan, Lantong. Among the bigger cities and municipalities in the neighborhood of Maimbung there are Talipao 7 km east, Patikul 16 km north-north-east, Parang 13 km west, Siasi 48 km south-south-west, Jolo 13 km north-west, Indanan 10 km north-west, Old Panamao 24 km east-north-east, Pangutaran 64 km north-west, Panglima Estino (New Panamao) 18 km east as well as 31 km east of Maimbung the municipality Luuk. |
