Mabinay is a philippine municipality in the province Negros Oriental in Region VII Central Visayas which belongs to the Visayas group of islands. The municipality Mabinay is seated about 64 km north-west of province capital Dumaguete City and about 578 km south-south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.
Mabinay is a 1st class municipality. Regarding urbanization Mabinay is classified as partly urban. Mabinay occupies an area of 319.44 km². By the end of 2007 Mabinay was the home of 70,548 residents. Thus by average 220.85 people are living on one km².
Administratively the Municipality of Mabinay is subdivided into 32 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 31 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are New Namangka, Bugnay, Manlingay, Napasu-an, Banban, Bulibulihan, Old Namangka, Hagtu, Luyang, Cansal-ing, Canggohob, Lamdas, Arebasore, Tadlong, Dagbasan.
