Lugait is a philippine municipality in the province Misamis Oriental in Region X Northern Mindanao which be­longs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Lugait is seated about 45 km west-south-west of province capital Cagayan De Oro City and about 782 km south-south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.

Lugait is a 2nd class municipality. Regarding urbanization Lugait is classified as partly urban. Lugait occupies an area of 27.45 km². By the end of 2007 Lugait was the home of 16,863 residents. Thus by average 614.32 people are living on one km².

Administratively the Municipality of Lugait is subdivided into 8 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 7 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are Lower Talacogon, Kaluknayan, Betahon, Upper Talacogon, Aya-aya, Calangahan, Biga, Poblacion.

Among the bigger cities and muni­ci­pa­li­ties in the neigh­bor­hood of Lugait there are City Of Malaybalay (Bukidnon) 99 km east-south-east, Ozamis City (Misamis Occidental) 50 km west-south-west, Marawi City (Lanao Del Sur) 37 km south, Iligan City (Lanao Del Norte) 13 km south-south-west, Manolo Fortich (Bukidnon) 66 km east, Cagayan De Oro City 45 km east-north-east, Tangub City (Misamis Occidental) 64 km west-south-west, Lala (Lanao Del Norte) 69 km south-west, Oroquieta City (Misamis Occidental) 54 km west-north-west as well as 100 km west-north-west of Lugait the municipality Dapitan City (Zamboanga Del Norte).
