Esperanza is a philippine municipality in the province Agusan Del Sur in Region XIII Caraga which belongs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Esperanza is seated about 41 km west of province capital Prosperidad and about 832 km south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.
Esperanza is a 1st class municipality. Regarding urbanization Esperanza is classified as partly urban. Esperanza occupies an area of 1,355.48 km². By the end of 2007 Esperanza was the home of 47,659 residents. Thus by average 35.16 people are living on one km².
Administratively the Municipality of Esperanza is subdivided into 47 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 46 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are Mac-Arthur, San Jose, Maliwanag, Segunda, Sinakungan, Cebulan, San Isidro, Taganahaw, Valentina, Kalabuan, New Gingoog, Odiong, Bakingking, Aguinaldo, San Vicente.
