Compostela Barangays

Compostela is a philippine municipality. It is located in the province Cebu in Region VII Central Visayas which is a part of the Visayas group of islands. The municipality Compostela is seated about 18 km east-north-east of province capital Cebu City and about 564 km south-east of Philippine main capital Manila. The geographic coordinates of Compostela are 10° 26' 59'' N, 124° 0' 0'' E.

Administratively the Municipality of Compostela is subdivided into 17 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 16 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality.

According to the 2007 census, Compostela has a population of 39,167 residents and is part of the big group of 1073 cities and municipalities in the Philippines which have more than 10.000 residents but did not reach 50.000 population yet. Based on the number of its inhabitants Compostela is number 618 of the most populous cities of the Philippines and at 136 in Visayas group of islands and at 30 of the most populous cities of province Cebu. With an area of 53.90 km² Compostela occupies a relatively small urban area. Accordingly, there is a high population density. In Compostela, by average, 726.66 people live in one square kilometer. With this value, Compostela is only number 37 in Visayas and is nationally ranked 218th of the most densely populated cities in the Philippines.

According to the Philippine income classification for provinces, cities and municipalities Compostela is a 3rd class municipality. The urbanization status of Compostela is classified as partly urban.

Among the bigger cities and muni­ci­pa­li­ties in the neigh­bor­hood of Compostela there are City Of Talisay 28 km south-west, Toledo City 39 km west, Cebu City 18 km west-south-west, Ormoc City (Leyte) 90 km north-east, Lapu-lapu City (Opon) 16 km south-south-west, Mandaue City 14 km south-south-west, City Of Baybay (Leyte) 94 km east-north-east, Danao City 8 km north, Cadiz City (Negros Occidental) 94 km north-west as well as 78 km west of Compostela the municipality San Carlos City (Negros Occidental).
