Carigara is a philippine municipality in the province Leyte in Region VIII Eastern Visayas which belongs to the Visayas group of islands. The municipality Carigara is seated about 35 km west of province capital Tacloban City and about 541 km south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.
Carigara is a 2nd class municipality. Regarding urbanization Carigara is classified as partly urban. Carigara occupies an area of 117.86 km². By the end of 2007 Carigara was the home of 45,696 residents. Thus by average 387.71 people are living on one km².
Administratively the Municipality of Carigara is subdivided into 49 barangays. 5 compose the center of the city wheras the other 44 are in the outlying areas.
