Calintaan

Calintaan is a philippine municipality in the province Occidental Mindoro in Region IV-B MIMAROPA which be­longs to the Luzon group of islands. The municipality Calintaan is seated about 81 km south-south-east of province capital Mamburao and about 224 km south of Philippine main capital Manila.

Calintaan is a 3rd class municipality. Regarding urbanization Calintaan is classified as partly urban. Calintaan occupies an area of 382.50 km². By the end of 2007 Calintaan was the home of 26,779 residents. Thus by average 70.01 people are living on one km².

Administratively the Municipality of Calintaan is subdivided into 7 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 6 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are Malpalon, Poypoy, Concepcion, Iriron, Tanyag, New Dagupan, Poblacion.

Among the bigger cities and muni­ci­pa­li­ties in the neigh­bor­hood of Calintaan there are City Of Calapan (Oriental Mindoro) 92 km north-north-east, Bongabong (Oriental Mindoro) 48 km east-north-east, Sablayan 32 km north-west, Pinamalayan (Oriental Mindoro) 69 km north-east, San Jose 28 km south-south-east, Naujan (Oriental Mindoro) 91 km north-north-east, Victoria (Oriental Mindoro) 72 km north-north-east, Gloria (Oriental Mindoro) 72 km north-east, Roxas (Oriental Mindoro) 60 km east as well as 53 km east of Calintaan the municipality Mansalay (Oriental Mindoro).
