Buug is a philippine municipality in the province Zamboanga Sibugay in Region IX Zamboanga Peninsula which belongs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Buug is seated about 53 km east of province capital Ipil and about 795 km south-south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.
Buug is a 3rd class municipality. Regarding urbanization Buug is classified as partly urban. Buug occupies an area of 134.06 km². By the end of 2007 Buug was the home of 34,289 residents. Thus by average 255.77 people are living on one km².
Administratively the Municipality of Buug is subdivided into 27 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 26 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality. The most populous are Guintuloan, Bagong Borbon, Lantawan, Guitom, Agutayan, Bulaan, Danlugan, San Jose, Guminta, Talairan, Pling, Mabuhay, Pulog, Compostela, Basalem.
