Buguey is a philippine municipality. It is located in the province Cagayan
in Region II Cagayan Valley
which is a part of the Luzon group
of islands. The municipality Buguey is seated about 75 km north of province capital Tuguegarao City
and about 421 km north-north-east of Philippine main capital Manila. The geographic coordinates of Buguey are 18° 16' 59'' N, 121° 49' 59'' E.
Administratively the Municipality of Buguey is subdivided into 30 barangays. One forms the center of the city wheras the other 29 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality.
According to the 2007 census, Buguey has a population of 28,129 residents and is part of the big group of 1073 cities and municipalities in the Philippines which have more than 10.000 residents but did not reach 50.000 population yet. Based on the number of its inhabitants Buguey is number 910 of the most populous cities of the Philippines and at 450 in Luzon group of islands and at 18 of the most populous cities of province Cagayan. With an area of 164.50 km² Buguey is one of the cities with a smaller urban area. Based on its area area, it ranks only as the 21st of the smallest cities of the province of Cagayan.
